"Southern point of South Africa is Cape of Good Hope"

FALSE
The Southern African point is Cape Agulhas (Nadelkap), located about 150 km east of Cape of Good Hope, which still extends about 65 km toward south. Bartholomew Diaz (1450 - 1500), which reached both points in 1488, reminded the Cabo Tormentoso (Whirlpool Cape), although it is not clear either to what point he referred, nor that he measured. However, the reference point of sailors is Cape of Good Hope - who would have received its name from the Portuguese king, who hoped that has discovered the sea route to India.
