"Eve tempted Adam with an apple"

In the Bible, it is not an apple. "Corpus delicti" with an unspecified name, was a fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. There is not even a specific temptation described. "She took the fruit and ate, and gave some to her husband and he ate". Fatal fruit was called later in apple, because in Latin "malum" means both "evil" and "apple" - or the apple in Greek culture was a tribute brought to the love goddess Aphrodite. Instead, the Bible, apples plays no role.
