"In medieval times people do not wore glasses"

Since ancient times were known that the polished glass can distort the image. But in Europe, this information has been lost. It was only discovered around 1240, when it was translated into Latin the book "Treasure of optics", written by Arab mathematician Alhazen (approximately 965-1040). From this theoretical base, in a few decades, began grinding lenses that can correct vision problems. Nobody knows for sure where and when there appeared the first glasses - most often mentioned is England and Venice, around 1280 - but it is certain that the monasteries are the ones that have played a pioneering role in this domain. The oldest representations of people with glasses come from the middle fourteenth century and are found in the palace of San Nicolo in Treviso. These glasses had not yet frames.
