"Edda is an old Nordic epopee"
Edda is a collection of stories of Nordic gods and heroes, created by Icelander Snorri Sturluson (1178-1241) around 1230. Back then, many stories had been forgotten. There were mentioned only in the expressions and allusions. The main reason Snorri puts the old myths in circulation was that Icelanders do not give oblivion what they were referring. One of his sources was discovered later, the so-called song Edda, dating from the ninth century.
